Side Quest Escape Games will hold several pop-up locations during September, National Preparedness Month. Tyler Robinson, the company owner, announced that the Shaky Grounds Cafe escape room would visit several Oregon locations.
Emmy award-winning production designer Robinson said, “We treat emergency preparedness as a lighthearted game that encourages players to focus on their comfort rather than a fear-based scenario that can leave many people feeling overwhelmed or anxious.”

According to the press release, Shaky Grounds Cafe is the first mobile escape room that teaches players emergency preparedness.
In the hour-long interactive adventure, “players take on the role of survivors who find themselves less than prepared in the wake of a massive 9.0 earthquake.”
They must search for supplies in the remains of a local coffee shop. Players must return by curfew or risk being mistaken for a looter.
As with all escape scenarios, there is a time limit to “solve puzzles that teach lifesaving emergency preparedness skills.”
The Shaky Grounds Cafe is an entirely new type of escape game. It teaches players real-world skills while they explore and play. Players “learn how to assess risks, exercise critical thinking, and properly utilize emergency preparedness items to solve over 20 puzzles that teach real-life skills.”
